Danish company MagVenture A/S and DTU's Center for Magnetic Resonance have received a grant from Innovation Fund Denmark for an industrial PhD position.

The available PhD position will be part of the Neurophysics research effort at Center for Magnetic Resonance and is focused on Development of a Computational Model to Characterize the Effects and Side-Effects of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a non-invasive method to stimulate the brain, with several medical and research applications, among others depression treatment and neural diseases. In the PhD project you will develop a computational model to characterize the effectiveness of the stimulation method.

The succesful candidate will be hired by MagVenture and enrolled at the PhD school of DTU Electrical Engineering. Due to the collaborative nature of the project, you can expect to work from both the headquarters of MagVenture in Farum and DTU in Lyngby. In addition to this, some activities will be carried out from Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance at Hvidovre Hospital.

The Danish SME MagVenture A/S is a medical device company specializing  in non‐invasive magnetic stimulation systems for depression treatment as well as for clinical examination and  research  in  the  areas  of  neurophysiology,  neurology,  cognitive  neuroscience,  rehabilitation  and  psychiatry. Innovation Fund Denmark's Industrial PhD Program

An Industrial PhD is a three-year industrially focused research project and PhD education which is carried out in a collaboration between a company, an Industrial PhD candidate and a university.

An Industrial PhD student is employed in the private sector company and enrolled at the university.

The project allows the Industrial PhD to carry out a research project where results are applied in an enterprise setting. The company gets a candidate able to carry out a high quality research project and create results that can lead to commercial gain. At the same time, the company strengthens its relations to existing and new collaboration partners at the university. The public sector research institution strengthens its relations to the business sector, and a foundation for new research is created.
